   Litter Pick Sunday 24th March 2024    2 March, 2024

Toseland Community Litter-pick Sunday 24/03/24. Starting 2.00pm at 63 High Street, Toseland. Bags, pickers and hi-vis waistcoats provided at this site. Sausages etc. and refreshments available here afterwards. Everyone very welcome – bring your own gloves. The Toseland Community Litter-pick is a long-established, traditional event that seeks to engage everyone in taking pride in their village/doing something positive for the environment. It is organised by Toseland Parish Council with the support of Huntingdonshire District Council, who provide bags and picking implements, collect both the rubbish we bag and pile up outside no 63 High Street, and also the debris/potentially dangerous items that we identify/flag up at the roadside. On the one hand, it helps to promote environmental awareness on a number of levels. On the other hand, it is an enjoyable social event with food and drink. Do please come along if you can. It costs nothing except your labour for a couple of hours, and in that time, you can make a real difference. NB. Risk Assessment Reminders A brief advisory talk will be given at the start at no.63 High Street, but if you arrive late, please remember to be very careful about: Being aware of traffic on the road; Handling items that may have toxic chemicals in them - do not handle them but flag them up on the roadside with a bag and a stick and report back on their location; Handling syringes – do not handle them but flag them up on the roadside with a bag and a stick and report back on their location. Work in pairs at least, so that if you overreach and fall in a ditch, someone is nearby to pull you out!
